Privacy Policy
CathodeTV is a video player for Apple TV. It plays media from Plex Media Servers you choose, shown through a simulated CRT television. This policy explains what the app stores, what it sends, and to whom.
What stays on your Apple TV
- Your Plex sign-in token, kept in the Apple TV's Keychain.
- Your settings: TV presets, themes, channel line-up and weather location, kept in the app's own storage.
- Top Shelf artwork for Continue Watching, your Watchlist and the On Now row, shared only with CathodeTV's own Top Shelf extension.
Who the app talks to
CathodeTV connects only to the services below, and only for the reason listed.

Location
The Weather channel asks for your Apple TV's approximate location. The app rounds it to about 1 km before using it, and uses it only for the forecast and to show your town's name, which Apple Maps looks up.
You don't have to share your location. In Settings → Channels you can enter a ZIP code instead, or turn the Weather channel off. You can also turn location off for CathodeTV in the Apple TV's Settings at any time.
Your choices
- Turn the Weather or News channels off in Settings → Channels to stop those requests entirely.
- Sign out in Settings to remove your Plex sign-in from the Apple TV.
- Delete the app to remove everything CathodeTV has stored.
Children
CathodeTV doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. What plays depends on the Plex libraries you connect, and Plex's own parental controls apply to managed Plex Home users.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of data changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change.
